How the answer is reached
Five sources, cross-compared — never two readings of one counted as two.
A certificate rests on independent evidence, not on one database's say-so. Each check below is a different kind of proof; passing two of them, in agreement, is what a certificate actually requires.
- Register
- The national business register, read directly. For France, the public API — no reseller sits between us and the source.
- VAT
- The European Commission's VIES, as a second independent authority — not a second read of the same register.
- Document
- A Kbis or equivalent extract, parsed. This is what makes two proofs genuinely independent rather than the register counted twice.
- Screening
- The restricted-party lists — see what screening covers — downloaded and matched here, so no name is ever sent to a third party.
- Authority
- The person declaring is matched against the officers the register names, and identified in their own right. Being named in a public register is not evidence that you're the person typing — see getting your own certificate.
Every check carries its provenance
Which source answered, on what date, and the hash of what it returned. A judgement with no way to interrogate it is a credit score — see understanding your grade for how these five roll up into the two axes a grade is built from, and the trust centre's screening sources page for exact list versions and hashes.
